File View

Files from your computer can be loaded onto the website. Common files are images, PDF, Word documents and multimedia files. YARE file space is restricted so large files may be disallowed.

The File View appears in the Navigation Pane when File modules are selected.

The File View is very similar to the interface used by popular file managers. Files are represented by an icon and title. Files appear within folders stemming from a root folder.

Files stored in folders more than one level from the root folder may be hidden from view. Folders can be opened by selecting the + sign to the left of the folder icon. Folders can be closed again by selecting the - sign next to the open folders.

Actions From File View

From the file view there are several important actions that can be carried out.

  • Uploading files from a computer to the server
  • Deleting Files
  • Editing and renaming files
  • Viewing file information e.g., size, date, thumbnails 

File Mounts

Editors are given file permissions, or File Mounts, by the YARE Administrator. File Mounts allow users to view some folders but not others. This means that the File View could appear fragmented with isolated folders. If a file that a user wants to edit does not appear in the File View they probably do not have permission to view it.
