The Front End

What is the Front End?

The Live site or Front End (FE) is the website as it appears to visitors. It contains web pages and content that have been produced by Editors. Pages are accessible to anyone with an internet connection.

Your YARE site can be extended so that some pages may only be visible to people who are registered with the site. These are called private pages, the people who can access private pages are called Front End Users (FE Users).

FE Users usually register through a form on the website. Registration can be open to anyone or can be restricted. FE Users are associated with a group e.g., volunteers and staff, and permissions can be set for an entire group. Permissions describe which pages are visible to that group.

Front End Users may be allowed to log into the FE (to access private information) but they cannot access the Editing Area.
