Writing for the web

Maintain good standards of writing on your website.

Here are useful guidelines to keep in mind when writing for the web:

• Use simple language that is free of jargon
• use less words than you would on a written page
• remove superfluous and excessive descriptive language
• be specific about dates (include a day, month and year)
• be specific about costs (include the currency and indicate if tax is included)
• use one idea per paragraph
• structure the content with a start, middle and end
• use headings to break up the text and describe what the visitor will read
